The magical world of “Harry Potter” is being reawakened: Warner Bros. is working on a series. Now there is a possible start date.

Warner Bros. has been working on a reboot of “Harry Potter” for several months – this time in series form on the streaming service Max. And fans may not have to be patient for so long: As “Variety” reports, the first part of the series will be shown on the streaming service in 2026. The head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, revealed this on Friday (February 23) at the quarterly investor conference. There is no specific start date yet.

What is known so far about the “Harry Potter” series?

So far only a few details are known about the series. Seven seasons are apparently planned – one for each book in JK Rowling’s (58) series. Warner boss Zaslav also said in the conference that he met with the British writer in London a few weeks ago to talk about the series. “Our conversations were great and we look forward to what lies ahead,” he said. “We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans worldwide on Max.”

It is not yet known who will take on the roles of the famous sorcerer’s apprentices Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Co. Old acquaintances like Daniel Radcliffe (34), Emma Watson (33) or Rupert Grint (35) should not return. In addition, it is not yet clear which screenwriters will work on the series.

The seven novels in the “Harry Potter” series by JK Rowling were published between 1997 and 2007. The film series consists of eight parts: The first film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” premiered in 2001, which concluded on the big screen “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” in 2011.
