Harry Potter: is a sex scene hidden in the third film?

According to some fans, the final credits of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” would contain a sexual relationship between two residents of Hogwarts. But what is it really?

We are at the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, third opus of the magic saga directed by Alfonso Cuaron in 2004. The last sequence of the film has just been completed and gives way to the final credits, inspired by the famous Map of the Marauder.

This magical object, used by the young wizards in the feature film, has the power to indicate to whoever consults it the exact position of each character inside Hogwarts. As the names of the cast and the technical team scroll on the screen, we can thus observe the course of several footprints, corresponding to the different residents of the castle.

Two of them, however, have particularly caught the attention of the most observant fans. Indeed, the space of a few seconds, in the lower left corner of the screen, we can observe two pairs of feet in a position that is ambiguous to say the least.

Is it just two students making out in the school hallways? Or are we downright witnessing a sexual relationship between two unidentified characters in the Harry Potter saga?

Warner Bros.

All interpretations are obviously possible. But in December 2017, our colleagues from HuffPost were able to directly ask the question to Rus Wetherell, the artist in charge of designing the final credits of the film.

Although he hasn’t really given an official explanation for this little hidden detail, he assumes that one of the two footprints could belong to Harry Potter himself, and that the curious positioning of the scene could not suggest that a slight romance between students:

(…) We were all kids, we were all in school… It was just kind of a little peck on the cheek.”he explains, also stating that the director Alfonso Cuaron, discovering the joke, had burst out laughing.

“It was a fun detail for the adults, and one that the kids couldn’t really understand,” continues Wetherell.(…) A little levity that could make people smile.”

In your opinion, how should this small detail be interpreted?
