Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ended the saga of the young wizard on the big screen. On the occasion of the film, the Great Hall of Hogwarts was one of the first and most imposing sets that had ever been built. Seeing the production’s oldest set turned into rubble for the purposes of the film was a shock for the production team, the actors and the technicians.
Radcliffe recalls: “It was hard to see such a majestic building demolished so suddenly.” Rupert Grint adds: “It was very hard. We grew up in these settings, and it was difficult to see all that destroyed.”
The film marked his last appearance as a hero he had played for ten years:
“I wouldn’t even have the words to express what the role of Harry Potter means to me, but what I can say is that I never took it lightly. And if it’s the same character throughout the saga, Harry – like everyone else – has changed a lot over the years. As a result, I tried to renew myself with each film and highlight different character traits.”
Indeed, during the 8 films, Harry went from a shy young boy, to a misunderstood teenager to finally become a formidable wizard.
