Harvey Weinstein: California charges extended to three cases

The charges against ex-producer Harvey Weinstein in California have been expanded to include three rape cases.

The criminal complaint in California against former film producer Harvey Weinstein (68), who has already been convicted of rape, has been expanded to include six new items for sexual assault. Among other things, there are three rapes. The Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced in a press release on Friday (October 2nd). These are incidents that allegedly involved two victims more than ten years ago in Beverly Hills.

"I am grateful to the first women to report these crimes and whose courage gave others the strength to speak up," Lacey said in the statement. "The willingness of these recent victims to testify against a powerful man gives us the additional evidence we need to build a convincing criminal case."

Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault in February 2020. The New York court imposed a 23-year sentence on him, which he is serving in a prison in upstate New York. If convicted in California, Weinstein faces up to 140 years in prison, according to People.
