“The High Authority for Health recommends favoring places of care in which a health professional works (pharmacies, health centers, medical laboratories, etc.),” according to a press release published Wednesday. Without specifying which ones, it however recommends “opening this possibility to other places”, which respect the criteria of confidentiality and quality of care and recommends “the establishment of a dedicated waiting area”.
“Whatever the location, HAS recommends that a person be present on site in order to maintain and prepare the location, then to welcome and accompany the patient when the latter requests it,” adds the press release. . This person “is not necessarily a health professional, but he or she is bound by the obligation of professional secrecy and must be trained,” underlines the HAS.

To formulate its recommendations, the HAS mobilized all the stakeholders concerned (health professionals, patient associations, industrialists and telehealth companies, institutions, etc.), in particular via field visits and a public consultation which It took place from January 8 to 22.
The public authority is considering different actions to control quality criteria, in the form of declaration of installed equipment or label. The SNCF announced last year the deployment of telemedicine spaces to combat medical deserts in around 300 stations by 2028.
The decree on the approval of medical teleconsultation companies, published last week, will notably allow approved teleconsultation companies to be able to employ doctors. The text leaves unchanged the obligation for doctors to devote a maximum of 20% of their time to teleconsultation.
