Record compactness
With ballerina measurements, the Hasselblad XCD 4/28P lens measures only 43.5 mm and weighs only 245 grams, making it the most compact medium format lens. Unsurprisingly, it was first thought to be screwed onto the brand’s compact hybrid devices such as the recent X2D 100C.
Its focal length of 28 mm and its relatively bright F/4 aperture will allow it to find its place in many situations, especially since its focusing distance of only 22 cm associated with a 1:6 magnification allows achieve nice close-ups while controlling the depth of field.
Built for 100 megapixels
Not surprisingly, the premium brand Hasselblad pays particular attention to its lenses, even the so-called entry-level ones. The metal barrel as well as the various attentions to detail, in particular on the manual focusing ring, testify to the seriousness of the manufacturer.
Of course, Hasselblad worked above all on the optical design of its pebble, in order to allow it to fully exploit very defined sensors, like that of the X2D 100C, of 100 megapixels. Inside there are nine lenses divided into eight groups and incorporating a low dispersion ED lens, as well as two aspherical surfaces, always with the aim of offering maximum detail while limiting aberrations and other optical distortions.
On the focusing side, Hasselblad opted for a linear stepper motor supposed to move a focusing group as light and compact as possible. The watchword remains the same: speed and precision. Finally, the central shutter, bet on this type of material, allows shutter speeds of up to 1/4000 s.

Attractive to all happy owners of a Hasselblad X-mount camera, the all-new XCD 4/28P is already available to order. Make no mistake about its “entry-level” positioning, since you will have to pay a whopping €1,899 to be able to screw it onto your X2D 100C.
