Alongside the announcement of the X2D 100C hybrid, Hasselblad presented three new fixed focal lengths for its XCD mount: the 2.5/38V, 2.5/55V and 2.5/90V will be added to the optical fleet medium format from the Swedish company.

To accompany the launch of its new flagship, the 100 Mpx X2D 100C medium format sensor body, Hasselblad unveils three new fixed focal lengths for this type of device.

XCD 2.5/38V: the street photographer’s ally

The first lens is the XCD 2.5/38V. Relatively wide-angle (30 mm in 24×36 equivalent) and compact (68 x 76 mm, 350 g), this lens is based on an optical formula of nine elements divided into six groups. The minimum focusing distance is 30 cm and the central optical shutter allows a speed of 1/2000 s to be reached. For controls, the lens is equipped with an iris control ring and a focusing ring. The alternation between autofocus and manual focus is done by pulling on the appropriate ring.

XCD 2.5/55V: classic among classics

The second pebble, the XCD 2.5/55V is in the same vein, while offering a slightly longer focal length (43mm in 35mm equivalent). This time, the optic uses a formula of nine elements divided into eight groups. The minimum focusing distance is 45 cm and apart from a slightly different size (72 x 76 mm, 372 g), the operation and characteristics of the optics are similar to the 38 mm.

XCD 2.5/90V: very fast small TV

Finally, Blad unveils the XCD 2.5/90V. A small telephoto lens, 71 mm in 35mm equivalent, interesting for portraits. It is 95 mm long, 75 mm in diameter and 551 g, and its optical formula has nine elements divided into six groups. Very similar to the two previous lenses, the latter is distinguished by a central shutter capable of climbing up to 1/4000 s, even with flash synchronization.

Price and availability

With these three new lenses, the XCD mount now has 13 references. The 2.5/38V, 55V and 90V XCDs are available as soon as they are announced on September 7, 2022 at respective prices of €4199 for the first two lenses and €4799 for the last Pebble.
