Haut-Rhin: a couple indicted for murder after the death of a young man

A couple of young adults have been indicted for murder and modification of a crime scene after fatally stabbing a 22-year-old man on Sunday evening in Dietwiller (Haut-Rhin), announced this Wednesday July 6 the prosecutor of Mulhouse.

Edwige Roux-Morizot detailed at a press conference the scenario that led to the death of the young man, evoking a “terrible mistake“. Sunday evening, the couple had given him an appointment in an isolated place in this town of some 1,400 inhabitants.

One too many requests

The victim, himself a couple, had previously approached the 19-year-old girl under a false identity via the Snapchat application for a sexual encounter. Too much of a solicitation for the young major, regularly harassed on the social network by two other individuals. His companion, aged 20, then continued the exchanges on the messaging system with the suitor and set him the night appointment.

Around 11 p.m. Sunday evening, the victim went there, the young girl waiting for him in his car, his companion hidden in the undergrowth. The couple hadagreed on a code depending on who would show up for the appointment“, explained Edwige Roux-Morizot. “The young woman when she saw that it was none of the men she suspected (of harassing her) did try to warn her companion. But he didn’t see the message sent to his phone“, she further clarified.

A violent altercation ensued between the two men. The victim took over for a while, before the young woman’s companion took a knife out of his pocket and fatally injured him. The couple then fled while trying to erase the traces of blood in the vehicle. Thanks to the exploitation of the victim’s telephone, the investigations of the Mulhouse and Strasbourg investigators led to the arrest of the couple on Monday morning.

The forensic institute of Strasbourg counted three stab wounds on the body of the young man: a deep wound in the neck, one in the thorax and a last at the level of the flank near the lumbar. “It is not known which one was fatal“said the prosecutor. The premeditation was retained by the examining magistrate because of the ambush which was tense. The young woman is also indicted for failure to assist a person in danger.
