The family outing turned tragic on Friday afternoon. While walking on a footpath between the towns of Verneque and Grépiac, about twenty kilometers south of Toulouse, in Haute-Garonne, a son and his father had an altercation reports La Dépêche du Midi.
The argument escalated and the enraged son, in his thirties, rushed to grab an iron bar from a shed and hit his father hard in the head.
The father, in his 60s, died instantly.
The son fled but was caught by the gendarmes who arrested him.
During the arrest, the suspect, unknown to the gendarmerie services, attacked the soldiers.
His psychological state being incompatible with police custody, the prosecutor ordered his hospitalization.
