Haute-Savoie: the explosion of a gas tanker injured two

This Friday, two people were seriously injured in the explosion of a truck carrying gas in Fillinges in Haute-Savoie. The accident damaged a dozen surrounding houses and some 110 SDIS firefighters were deployed to the scene, with reinforcements from SAMU doctors and soldiers from the national gendarmerie.

A truck carrying gas exploded this Friday morning in Fillinges (Haute-Savoie), involving 21 people including two seriously injured and damaging a dozen surrounding houses, said the prefecture of the department. “A fire broke out at the level of the tractor vehicle of a gas tank truck” which was at the crossing of two departmental roads in the Giffre valley near Annemasse, according to a press release.

110 SDIS firefighters deployed

Some 110 firefighters from the SDIS were deployed to the scene, with reinforcements from SAMU doctors and soldiers from the national gendarmerie. The truck fire caused “overheating of the tank and its explosion”, underlines the prefecture. “Two residential areas and a dozen houses were impacted by the blast of the explosion at the time of the explosion. The provisional report of this accident reports 21 people involved, including 2 seriously injured hospitalized”, according to the press release.

“The fire is out and there is no longer any risk of explosion,” adds the prefecture.
