Hautes-Alpes: in search of a missing person, they make a macabre double discovery

They did not expect to make such a discovery. For several days, the gendarmes had been looking for a missing person in the Hautes-Alpes. But this Monday, February 20, during their investigations, it is not on one, but on two bodies they fellreports Le Dauphiné, taking up information from Alpes 1. The two corpses were discovered at Roc d’Embrun, and the oldest of them was in an advanced state of decomposition when authorities found it, suggesting it had been there for some time.

The first victim had been wanted since Friday, February 17. It was a man for whom significant resources had been deployed to try to find him, including a helicopter, a drone and a canine team. One of the two corpses found corresponds to that of the missing person, while the second has yet to be identified. “In both cases, suicide hypotheses are favoredno suspicious element having been discovered on the bodies”indicated the public prosecutor to the Dauphine.

A woman who disappeared last December

In an attempt to find out who is hiding behind the second victim, DNA analyzes must be carried out. Police will also investigate to see if other people have been reported missing in the area. For now, only one case was brought to the attention of the authorities. It is a 46-year-old woman, Hélène Peyre, who has not been found since mid-December. A call for witnesses had been launched, in which the missing person was described as wearing blue jeans, gray trekking shoes and could have a hiking backpack, indicated our colleagues from BFM DICI.
