“It’s okay, I didn’t hurt myself.” In a story posted on Instagram, Alexis Jandard begins by reassuring her 33,000 followers. The French diver, who must participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, experienced a funny mishap this Thursday morning. An incident which quickly sparked total hilarity on social networks.

While he was to take part in a diving demonstration, in the presence of Emmanuel Macron who came to inaugurate the Olympic aquatic center in Saint-Denis, the former gymnast slipped on his diving board before falling heavily into the water. A sequence that makes you smile given the exposure he was enjoying at that precise moment.

“I slipped boss”

On “Strength to you soldier”, writes the parody media, to which Alexis Jandard responded in turn. “Thank you for the strength! FYI, my back is fine, my ego is…”, he posted, accompanying his message with a laughing emoji. And added: “It’s still a lot more entertaining.”

On Instagram, it was with a big smile that the diver “debriefed” the scene this Thursday afternoon. “I have a little weakness on my leg and it made me fall. I fell in front of the president and in front of the whole of France,” laughs the athlete. “Have fun, eh! It’s time to brag because frankly, I deserve it,” he continues with a burst of laughter. A sequence of four stories, followed by a photo of his back, showing a few scratches, accompanied by the caption: “I slipped boss”.

Alexis Jandard is however far from being a beginner. In 2022, he was vice-world champion in mixed team diving and won a bronze medal last year at the Fukuoka Worlds in Japan. Next summer, he will compete in the Olympic synchronized three-meter springboard event.
