“He caught it from me!” : this totally inappropriate gesture that Gérard Depardieu would have made with a former TPMP columnist

Monday March 25, Christophe Carrière was the guest of Chez Jordan on C8. The opportunity for the former TPMP columnist to return to Gérard Depardieu’s inappropriate gesture against him.

For several months, Gérard Depardieu has been in turmoil. The emblematic actor of French cinema is accused of rape and sexual assault by several women. Guest in Culture Médias on Europe 1, the journalist Christophe Carrière revealed that he too had suffered an inappropriate gesture from the septuagenarian, during the Cannes film festival in May 1998.

On Monday March 25, the former TPMP columnist returned to this incident on the set of Chez Jordan on C8. “I didn’t tell it to denounce Gérard Depardieu. It was misperceived, misunderstood” he explained. The 59-year-old then recontextualized : “I’m in an elevator in Cannes, at the Martinez. The elevator is very small. Depardieu grabs the package from me, it lasts two floors… There was his press officer, two people I didn’t know, him in front and me behind, the elevator was full“.

Christophe Carrière regrets not having condemned the gesture of Gérard Depardieu

Facing Jordan de Luxe, Christophe Carrière explained that he had tried to stick against the elevator wall without success. “He turns around and says to me: ‘Well what, I can’t touch the floor for you?’. I say: ‘Well no’” he remembered. Finally, those present were “hilarious” and Gérard Depardieu would have done it again. Cyril Hanouna’s former columnist indicated once again: “He caught it from me“.

At the time of the actor’s inappropriate gesture, the journalist did not know how to react and found himself “state of astonishment“. Today, he regrets not having condemned his behavior, even if he does not consider himself attacked. “The right reaction was to take his hand, send him to shit and then make a scandal, flaunt it” explained Christophe Carrière. He then concluded by indicating that this behavior should have been denounced for a long time : “I don’t want to cast shame on Depardieu or anything. I just want people to take responsibility and say to themselves: ‘wait, didn’t we also screw up by not reacting?’“. Words that make you think.
