A great sports fan, he likes to know what is hidden in the lives of athletes, but does not neglect film or singing stars. After a long journey in the Canadian far north, he returned more determined than ever to see what was going on among the people of France and elsewhere.

It’s a match that risks leaving its mark. On February 2, the French XV lost at home to Ireland at the opening of the Six Nations tournament. A defeat which weakens Fabien Galthié, sharply criticized by a former international, who speaks in “Le Figaro” this Monday.

It’s a rout that no one had really envisaged on the French side and it risks leaving serious traces. A few months after the enormous disillusionment caused by the defeat in the quarter-final of the Rugby World Cup against South Africa, Fabien Galthié and his troops were impatiently awaiting this first match of the Six Nations tournament. A match against Ireland at the Stade Vélodrome to try to turn the page on this setback which traumatized all rugby lovers in France. Unfortunately, the meeting turned into a fiasco for the Blues who were quickly reduced to 14 and ended up losing with a very heavy score of 38 to 17 at home.

A new disillusionment for Fabien Galthié, who we saw disgusted by the refereeing during the World Cup and who did not hide his disappointment at the end of the match, not sparing his players. “The offensive performance was not there. Waste, dropped balls, turnovers, less speed… (..) We must increase the sliders offensively and defensively, there is no debate on that”, he declared at a press conference after the meeting. If he also recognized that the fact of being one less did not work in their favor, the coach of the Blues, who left to have fun in New York with his son Mathis last January, did not like the performance of its players.

Fabien Galthié “better take responsibility”

Arrived at the head of the XV of France in 2019, Fabien Galthié is unanimous and he has allowed the selection to get back on its feet, but the last two defeats are starting to make people talk. Asked in Le Figaro this Monday, February 5, a former French international did not mince his words regarding the attitude of the former player. “The problem with Fabien Galthié is thathe does not assume. He should be a lightning rod, protecting his players and he has the annoying habit of blaming them. There, for sure, he will pillory some of them. He would do better to take responsibility and consider that he is the one at fault. That he was wrong. But it’s very complicated for him to recognize it.”says the one who preferred to remain anonymous.

Harsh words which risk reaching the ears of Fabien Galthié.
