While the Vision Pro has only just been launched, many users have already been spotted wearing headphones in public, and even while driving their cars. A situation that can be very dangerous.
Apple’s Vision Pro headset either immerses you in an immersive virtual reality experience, or keeps you grounded in reality with its cameras that film the world around you. This feature allows you to move with or remain aware of your surroundings, and This has obviously already given the first owners bad ideas.
Apple warns users not to use the headset while driving, cycling, or operating machinery because it could be dangerous and distracting, but some people seem to ignore Apple’s warnings. This is particularly the case of a Tesla driver, who was seen behind the wheel with the Vision Pro.

The Tesla drives alone while he uses his Vision Pro helmet
A video posted over the weekend showed a person wearing the Vision Pro headset while sitting in the driver’s seat of a Tesla Model Y. The person claims to use travel mode, which allows them to use certain functions of the headset, such as browsing the web or watching videos. To avoid creating accidents, the driver announces having activated Full Self-Driving mode, Tesla’s fully autonomous driving.
This is obviously very risky and irresponsible behavior, as the Vision Pro helmet is not designed for driving. As a reminder, despite the cameras which transmit you video feedback of your environment, the headset is equipped with a micro-OLED display system which covers the user’s eyes, thus blocking his natural vision.
Helmet also limits the user’s field of vision, depth perception and peripheral vision, which are essential for driving. Worse still, headphones can also cause motion blur, lens flare, and sunlight glare.
FSD Beta may be an intelligent and impressive system, but it still does not completely replace a human driver. The system may make mistakes or encounter situations that it cannot handle, which is why Tesla still requires drivers to pay attention and keep their hands close to the steering wheel. It is not uncommon for a driver to have to intervene and regain control of the vehicle. Fortunately for other driversthe police quickly intervened.
