“He rocks me on the bed, undresses me and penetrates me”: the chilling accounts of new PPDA accusers

New testimonies in the PPDA case. This Monday, September 19, the newspaper Liberation published an investigation pointing once again to the atrocities that the former presenter of the 20 hours newspaper of TF1 would have subjected to certain women. To the long list of complainants, three new alleged victims have just been added, including writers Margot Cauquil-Gleizes and Bénédicte Martin. These two women confessed to having filed a complaint for rape and sexual assault. Even though the facts will not give rise to any prosecution due to the prescriptionthey wanted to mark the occasion to show their strong support for all those who would have fallen under the yoke of Patrick Poivre d’Arvor.

In a long article, the newspaper Liberation recounts having met the two writers, in addition to another woman who preferred to remain anonymous. These three women come from the world of publishing, in which PPDA was a powerful figure. Contacted by the national daily, the former journalist’s lawyer proved that the latter remained on the same positions: he disputes the facts. “Patrick Poivre d’Arvor’s position is known and I myself had the opportunity to share publicly, after the reasoned classification without follow-up, certain elements of his defense”explained Maître Jacquelin Laffont.

The first of his supposed new victims is Bénédicte Martin. Now 44, the journalist and writer said she had filed a complaint for an assault that occurred in November 2003. After having her read a manuscript, she was invited to a literary program called “Night Flight”. According to the story told by Liberation, following the shooting, “PPDA ends up arriving in an office, takes off his shoes and offers him a glass of very good rum (…) Then he makes him admire the view of the Seine (…) Before grabbing her by the throat giving her an arm lock, pull up her skirt and try to kiss her“. A chilling story that adds to many others.

While Bénédicte Martin decides to tell this horrible evening to her press secretary, she would have replied: “Yes, good, but he’s like that, Patrick, everyone knows it. What did you expect? If you want to write, there are obligatory passages… All the young girls have been there. Your book is doing very well. What are you complaining about ?”. Since this terrible story, the victim attendant has decided to change careers.

In addition to having collected this edifying testimony, Liberation gave the floor to two other women. Here again, the stories collected are terrifying. That of Margot Cauquil-Gleizes, who is now a 53-year-old teacher. Her story dates back to the fall of 1984, when she was only 16 years old. After having met PPDA, this one would have asked him “what kind of underwear she wears”. Before seeing him again a few months later. And then the tragedy: “When it opens to me, I’m a little surprised, because it’s a very small room, not a suite, and I immediately say to myself: But where are we going to land? There’s only one bed. He rocks me on the bed, undresses me, penetrates me. It only lasts five minutes. I remain completely passive, I do not understand what is happening to me”, told Margot Cauquil-Gleizes to Liberation.
