Who wouldn’t like to make a lot of money with minimal effort? The big problem is that in the vast majority of cases, this involves illegal activities. Among those that bring in the most, cryptocurrency scams. And the amounts are staggering: 555 million euros for 2 scammers, or even 1.5 million dollars with a simple message on Telegram. We are here in the dark zone of the Internet. What if there was a gray area?

Author TheAlex on Medium asked himself the question and finally chose to take action. He will earn money by scamming web scammers. It’s morally questionable, but visibly effective. First, it identifies the scammers promoting the merits of cryptocurrencies in social media comments. Instagram, TikTok, Youtube…It only takes a few minutes to spot many. TheAlex targets those who give a number to reach them on WhatsApp.

Scamming scammers via WhatsApp earns him nearly 1,700 euros in less than a week

He then contacts the person saying he has 1000 or 10,000 dollars to invest in the proposed “cryptocurrency”. Smelling the pigeon, the scammer responds very quickly and gives his address PayPal for the payment. This is where the sprinkler becomes the sprinkled. TheAlex sends him a fake PayPal screenshot explaining that to receive the amount, it is first necessary that the scammer pays him $50. Initially, this directly ends the conversation, but the author does not give up.
