After giving birth to her first child, TV realtor Heather Rae El Moussa was constantly exhausted. It was caused by Hashimoto’s disease.

“Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae El Moussa (36) has Hashimoto’s disease. She has that revealed in an interview with “Today.com.” She discovered her autoimmune disease after her first pregnancy. At first, however, she thought the constant tiredness and exhaustion were a result of everyday life as a mother.

“Mom Brain” turned out to be an illness

The realtor shared her symptoms and the difficult journey to her diagnosis of thyroid disease. “I remember saying to my assistant, ‘I feel like I’m dead.’ My brain was so tired. My body was so tired.” She continued: “I was exhausted the whole time, and even a lot of sleep couldn’t improve it.” At first she thought she was suffering from “mom brain”. This refers to the forgetfulness that mothers often experience after giving birth. Rae El Moussa welcomed her first child in January.

In fact, she was so tired that she didn’t even want to film her reality shows. The 36-year-old can be seen in the real estate show “The Flipping El Moussas” alongside her husband Tarek El Moussa (42) and in the Netflix hit series “Selling Sunset”. Now she described the challenge: “The filming was absolutely brutal because I could hardly get out of bed.”

When the milk stopped, she had herself examined

When she suddenly couldn’t produce enough milk for her newborn, it occurred to her for the first time that something else could be behind her poor condition. After a blood test, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. The disease causes the immune system to attack the thyroid. It was also the reason for the lack of energy and breast milk. The illness is said to have been triggered by pregnancy. The agent said she was “completely shocked” by the diagnosis. But now she feels “much better”.

This also applies to little Tristan, who also had to struggle with a health problem. He was born with a thick tongue tie, which makes optimal tongue movement and therefore breastfeeding difficult. However, it could be fixed with laser surgery. “We had a lot of things going against us, including my autoimmune disease, but we did it,” the young mother proudly explained.

Heather Rae El Moussa has been married to TV star Tarek El Moussa (42) since 2021. He has two other children with his ex-wife Christina Hall. In the seventh season of “Selling Sunset”, the real estate agent will not be seen in the entire cast. She recently revealed that she would “maybe” appear in “a few episodes.”
