Heavy respiratory protection – chlorine gas leak in the hotel pool: workers evacuated

A chlorine gas leak occurred yesterday during repair work in an indoor swimming pool at a hotel in Kössen. The worker was able to escape from the house with other colleagues in time.

On Tuesday around 1:10 p.m., a 27-year-old Austrian employee was working on the chlorine gas system at the indoor swimming pool in a hotel in Kössen. This resulted in chlorine gas escaping, which the employee noticed and immediately left the premises. He then made an emergency call. The hotel is currently not in operation and there were only a few workers in the building – no one was injured. The fire brigade, using heavy respiratory protection, managed to make the rooms in question accessible again through ventilation. The FFW Kössen, Walchsee and Kitzbühel were deployed with a total of nine vehicles and 48 members, the Kössen rescue team with operations management and the Kössen police.
