Heiko and Roman Lochmann: Are the twins starting out as actors?

Heiko and Roman Lochmann report back, but not with new music. In the interview, the twins reveal more about their future plans.

It was about a year ago that Heiko and Roman Lochmann (both 21) announced the end of Die Lochis. A world collapsed for many fans back then. However, the twins never left the public entirely – on the contrary. The duo is now back in the spotlight in a new film. "Takeover – fully interchanged" will be released in German cinemas on July 2nd. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Heiko and Roman Lochmann reveal what has changed for the two since the end of the Lochis, how they are dealing with the corona crisis and whether they want to start as an actor.

Roman, you broke your arm recently. How are you currently?

Roman Lochmann: I broke my ligaments at the elbow, that's much worse. If it were just a broken arm, everything would be fine. I have to go through that now. That happened almost three weeks ago. I was operated on two weeks ago. I have had plaster for ten days now and I am now wearing a splint. Looks a bit like 'Transformers'. I have to wear it for six weeks now, and then there is also physiotherapy.

Heiko Lochmann: And I play the nurse.

In "Takeover" you slip into the role of each other – can you imagine that in real life?

Heiko Lochmann: We tried it once when we were twelve and in school, it worked quite well. Otherwise I feel very comfortable as Heiko and Roman as a novel too. We complement each other well.

Roman Lochmann: I would like to do this for a day just to see how much I actually get on my brother's nerves.

Heiko Lochmann: I wouldn't like to slip into your role with your injured arm. But I could imagine that. People who don't know us so well would believe us.

In "Brother before Luder" you played yourself, in "Takeover" you had to slip into a real film role. Was it easy for you?

Heiko Lochmann: It was even easier for us than for "Brother before Luder". It's not that easy to play yourself. In "Takeover" we played two roles that have a realistic reference. It was really nice for us to embody another person. We were still able to bring something of our personality into it.

Roman Lochmann: We have long prepared for the roles with months of acting coaching.

They were in front of the camera when shooting with renowned actors like Alexandra Neldel. How was that for you?

Heiko Lochmann: It was great fun watching our colleagues on the set. Whether Alexandra Neldel or Kai Wiesinger – we had to do with primary rocks there and you could tell that. It was a very pleasant job, we learned a lot from it.

The new film is the first major project since you ended the chapter The Lochis. Do you regret your decision?

Heiko Lochmann: We have no regrets. That was the best decision we could have made. That was over a year ago. We are very happy with it. Throughout the last year we have noticed how much it took us this time to find ourselves and develop, both artistically and privately. We have built a studio in our home and continue to work on new music. We are in the process of finding a sound for ourselves and are very productive.

Do you plan to move on to acting in the future?

Heiko Lochmann: Acting is a cool topic and we really enjoy it. But the focus for us has always been on music. The film also has a musical connection, which was very important to us personally.

Roman Lochmann: A movie like this is always a highlight for us.

The theatrical release had to be postponed due to the corona crisis. How do you deal with the current situation?

Heiko Lochmann: Of course it's not a nice situation for anyone. You have to try to make the best of it. We have spent a lot of time at home in the past few months, devoting ourselves to things that we do not often come across, such as skating. Roman then unfortunately injured his arm.

Heiko, you usually keep your relationships strictly out of the public eye. You posted a first picture together with your friend Steffi at the end of January. How did this step come about?

Heiko Lochmann: It just felt right to share that with the public now. Our book "Welcome Reality" came out in October, in which the topic was made public for the first time. We have been together for a long time, it is not a fresh relationship, even if it always feels like it, which is of course nice. For us it was simply the point where we said that now is the right time to do it. That doesn't mean, of course, that I share everything with the public and post a photo with Steffi every day.
