Heineken remains cautious with volatile economic conditions

LONDON, Feb 14 (Reuters) – Heineken said on Wednesday it targets single-digit operating profit growth in 2024, citing volatility in the geopolitical and economic environment.

The world’s second largest brewer also reported a 1.7% increase in operating profit for the year 2023, exceeding analysts’ forecasts which were counting on stability, according to a consensus compiled by the company.

The company, whose eponymous beer is the best-selling lager in Europe, had already warned that difficult economic conditions could weigh on demand in certain markets in 2024.

“Looking ahead to 2024, we remain cautious about the global economic and geopolitical outlook,” Chief Executive Dolf van den Brink said in a statement.

Under these conditions, the company will seek to stimulate revenue growth by balancing volumes and prices. (Reporting Emma Rumney; French version Nathan Vifflin, editing by Kate Entringer)
