Coming soon to the poster Sat on TF1 in an eighth season, Hélène de Fougerolles spoke of a very difficult period to live through as a woman: her menopause. Interviewed by Tele-Leisure, the 51-year-old actress confided that she had a bad time during the last filming of the series due to the many symptoms associated with it. Playing the character of Sam who also undergoes menopause in the seventh season, the actress found a perfect role cut out for her!

On the small screen, Shana’s mother explains with humor what her symptoms look like to her sidekick Thierry Neuvic in the TF1 drama: “It looks like a pregnancy, it sucks like a pregnancy, but it’s not a pregnancy. It’s menopause! […] Finally, it’s premenopausal syndrome. My body, this magnificent luxury liner, begins to slow down a little too soon before reaching port“.

In words tinged with irony, she confides about her own ills: “I’m in the middle of it too. During filming, I had hot flashes at the same time as Sam. Except we were so cold that I was disgusted that they weren’t stronger. I am in exactly this period of my life. I do a lot of yoga to try to keep the beast as long as possible.

Menopause, still a taboo?

Discussing this sometimes somewhat complicated period in the lives of women, our colleagues also asked the actress: “Menopause, a long-silent subject, is now mentioned in fiction, notably in Sam. But in your opinion, is there still a taboo that persists around women in their fifties?“.

As Pamela Anderson is doing at the moment by showing off without makeup, I would like us to be able to reflect on what we want and what we agree to look like. In Sam, I am very happy because I am put to my best advantage. This is not the case in Les Âmes fauves (a detective TV film from France 2, editor’s note), which I have just shot. I’m rough there. There is no one forcing me, but I still feel obliged to be pretty and to look younger than my age…” then replied the actress who intends to turn this bad moment into real strength.
