“Breathlessly through the night” may be one of Helene Fischer’s (39) biggest hits, but it was never enough to reach the top of the charts – until now. A new edition of “Atemlos” with Shirin David (28) has now taken the top spot in the Official German Single Charts, determined by GfK Entertainment.

Single charts: hits and Christmas classics

The pop queen and the rapper presented the new version live together for the first time at Thomas Gottschalk’s (73) “Wetten, das…?” farewell last Saturday. “Atemlos durch die Nacht” was first released in 2013 and, according to the chart makers, is not only the only song in Germany with more than a million downloads. So far, the song has been able to stay in the charts for 118 weeks, making it one of the most successful chart hits.

The further placements in the single charts show that Christmas is just around the corner. The classic “Last Christmas” by Wham! Mariah Carey’s (54) “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is in third place. Yakary’s “Sonnenbank.mp3” now occupies the four, while “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens (75), another Christmas song, fills the top five.

German rappers dominate the album charts

When it comes to albums, rapper Casper (41) succeeds with “Only love, always.” the highest new entry – straight to number one. The cult rockers from the Rolling Stones advance to second place with “Hackney Diamonds” and Casper’s colleague Kontra K (36) secures third place with “Nobody steals hope from me”. The rapper Badmómzjay (21) is in fourth place in “Survival Mode” and Stray Kids land in fifth place with “Rock-Star”.
