“You don’t want to call Nikos?” Hélène Mannarino couldn’t believe it when TF1 contacted her to present the two event evenings of her new show Dream Team. “The challenge was enormous,” confides the host during a press presentation. And we totally understand it! First because Dream Team is a brand new concept never before tested in France. And then because the show is a real television UFO.

The stars pampered their mini vocal lookalikes

In Dream Team, stars of French song form teams of “mini them” then compete in a duel on a song from their respective repertoire. How to choose the winners? The public distributes 200 points and a jury, made up of Chris Marques, Michael Jones, Lorie Pester and Anggun, gives 200 more.

This Friday evening, Claudio Capéo, Black M, Lara Fabian, Camille Lellouche, M.Pokora and Jenifer will sing with children very close to them vocally. Their little lookalikes will even be dressed like them. “These young singers have merged with the artists,” assures Frédéric Pédraza, deputy general director of content at TF1 production. For him, Dream Team is the allegory of an artistic journey because “children always mimic their idols then gradually free themselves from them”. The budding singers were rightly pampered by the stars, who chose them to join their team. “They were, from the start, very involved in the creation of their team,” explains Frédéric Prédaza.

“These children will have a career,” assures the production

Some children of Dream Team have already participated in The Voice Kidslike Lola-Rose and Emma Cerchi, or even Enzo Hilaire, France’s representative at Junior Eurovision in 2021. “Many of them will have a career. In 10-15 years, we will bring out the images saying to ourselves: ‘ It was their first TV'”, assures the production.

Challenge met for Hélène Mannarino

During filming, Hélène Mannarino did everything to best support the young talents. “I was afraid of doing a show with children because it’s complicated. You have to know how to support them, be at their side. I finally acted like a big sister in front of them,” confides the host. “It worked was an experience as enriching humanly as professionally. I was blue when the filming ended.”

The production does not regret having relied on her: “Hélène was perfect”. We watched the episodes of Dream Team in advance and indeed, Hélène Mannarino was able to gently announce the elimination of the little singers. In addition to this flawless animation side, Dream Team has all the ingredients of good family entertainment: song, emotion, kindness and beautiful moments of sharing on stage.
