Hello Netzwelt: We were robbed

TECHNOLOGY

The MWC is over – we’ll show you the highlights. Also: Digital Detox with the Barbie Phone and how many kilometers are it actually to Mount Doom? Hello online world!

Hello Netzwelt – not only do representatives of the mobile communications industry meet in Barcelona every year for the big show, the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The crème de la crème of the pickpocket scene is also up to mischief there. Everyone, really every MWC and Barcelona visitor knows someone who has been robbed or has been robbed themselves. This year it hit us.

You can see the article form of our weekly newsletter Hello Netzwelt. If you don’t want to miss any issues from now on, then it’s best to subscribe directly. To do this, simply click on the button at the very end of this text. Thank you!

We were victims of the so-called escalator trick. Someone brings the escalator to a stop using the emergency stop button. In the hustle and bustle, thieves find it easy to get hold of things. Result: money gone. Luckily we found the empty wallet a few meters behind the escalator and were able to secure the most important papers.

This shows once again: Even if you deal with fraud, phishing and identity theft every day, you are never safe from old and new crooked things. Even the consumer advice center can now sing a song about this.

As a reliable contact point for questions about cybersecurity, it has now fallen victim to a hacker attack. Sensitive data was stolen. You can read here what consequences this has – and sometimes for you too. And while we’re on the topic: The police are currently warning about this frequently used iPhone function, which can be actively misused.

A highlight of the MWC for us was the first look at the Galaxy Ring from Samsung. Actually, a smart ring like this is extremely unexciting. It just looks like most “stupid” rings. Samsung will offer it in several colors, including gold and silver.

We were not aware that people with thicker fingers have a clear advantage when using smart rings. But it’s true! You can find out why and what the Samsung ring should be able to do here. Below are other MWC highlights that we have tracked down for you:

“Mary Poppins” contains discriminatory language

A film for young and old that has thrilled audiences for decades – that’s how most Disney fans remember “Mary Poppins”. But times change.

The British Board of Film Classification, Britain’s answer to the FSK, has re-examined the classic film. Two cases of discriminatory language were negatively noticed. This now ensures that “Mary Poppins” receives a higher age rating. Mary Poppins only from 18? And what kind of discriminatory language was it?

In addition to the excellent quality and excellent service, it is above all our employees who make up our more than 50-year success story.

Understood? Exactly, just bofrost. For the IT Point of Sale area, the company is looking for a software developer (m/f/d) POS / Java as soon as possible. You can find all details about the job offer here. Apply quickly before someone else is quicker. If this has already been the case, then don’t worry. Below we list other top job offers from this week.

Spring project: expand the WiFi network to the garden and terrace

Do you see yourself sitting on the balcony, terrace or in the garden with the first warm rays of sunshine? Maybe surf a little or listen to music? Or do you even want to control your WiFi-enabled robotic lawnmower via smartphone?

The joke of the week

Friends of the internet world – spring is finally here and it’s your damn duty to enjoy it to the fullest now! I’m sorry, what? Isn’t that what you say? Nonsense, you already know what we mean and that we’re not alluding to the next Deutsche Bahn strike weekend.

If you still find yourself stranded somewhere unintentionally, perhaps the following joke will help you not to lose sight of your goal. We’ll see you next week at the latest for the next edition of Hallo Netzwelt – until then, do it very, very well. Bye!

Why is it actually called cell phone tracking and not Vodafone?

There are even more jokes here on Netzwelt.

A lot of effort goes into this. We look forward to a recommendation!
