Originally announced in June 2022, Hellsweeper been pushed back time and time again, but this time it’s the right one, the game will be released next fall. Vertigo Games has also planned to show a little more during the Steam NextFest which will take place from June 19 to 26.
If the game promises to be fast and intense, it differs from other titles in the genre by offering a system based on gestures:
If you summon an item in each hand, you can merge them to create a unique combination with different effects. By hitting my fireball on my sword, for example, I get a flaming sword. Similarly, the combination of a fireball and a bow results in flaming arrows. You can even combine the same spell multiple times – two fireballs merge to create a huge ball of energy, which I can shoot across the map and blast at will.
Hellsweeper VR will be released on September 21 on computer VR, PSVR 2, MetaQuest 2 and Pro. A trial version will be available on June 19 and will feature all game modes, weapons, magic as well as five maps different, enough to make a detailed opinion.
