Helmet broke – fall next to mom: boy (9) injured in skiing accident

Drama at Krippenstein: A nine-year-old from Germany was skiing in Upper Austria with his two siblings and parents on Monday when he had a serious fall: The boy slid into rocky terrain covered with little snow and his helmet broke in the fall.

On this holiday, everything that could go wrong went wrong for the vacationing family from Germany. A nine-year-old boy, together with his siblings and parents, rode the Krippenstein valley run to Obertraun once again. At an altitude of 1,910 meters above sea level, the boy fell on the edge of the piste and slid a little to the left into the flat rocky terrain that was currently only covered with a little snow . His helmet broke. Mom provided first aid. The injured man’s mother and members of the piste rescue team provided the boy with first aid. The weather didn’t play along during the rescue by the emergency medical helicopter. Because of the gusty wind, the rescue helicopter was unable to land directly at the scene of the accident. The emergency doctor was therefore first brought to the injured nine-year-old on a snowmobile. The emergency helicopter then flew the boy to the hospital.
