It’s double jeopardy for Henry Cavill. After leaving The Witcher and now being fired by DC from his role as Superman, the actor finds himself stripped of his two iconic roles. And his fans are not happy.
It’s official: Henry Cavill won’t be putting on Superman’s cape again. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to reprise the role of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series The Witcher. Variety has confirmed that The Witcher season 4 continues unchanged, meaning Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia as well.
Henry Cavill held the role for three seasons, but he confirmed his departure from the series in October, shortly after announcing his return as Superman in Warner Bros. DC Universe. With Cavill’s future as Superman definitely buried, fans wondered if he would return in The Witcher. This will not be the case.
As a reminder, the British actor returned as the Man of Steel in the post-credits scene of Black Adam. While Warner Bros. was wooing screenwriters for a new Superman movie starring Henry Cavill, the plan was turned upside down when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios in November.
The duo are revamping the DC Universe, starting with a new Superman movie written by Gunn without Henry Cavill. An announcement made by Henry Cavill – who did not fail to underline his disappointment – and James Gunn who drew the outlines of his new project.
