Here are all the details of LG’s 2024 LED and Mini-LED TVs

At the same time as the presentation of the OLED series, the LG brand gave us all the technical details of this year’s new LED and Mini-LED TV series. They feature more powerful chipsets as well as content optimization technologies for ever more qualitative sequences. Here are all the details.

Beyond OLED models, LG also markets several TVs equipped with an LCD panel using an LED or Mini-LED backlighting system.

LG QNED99, the 8K Mini-LED

The most high-end series is represented by the QNED99 models available in 75 and 86 inches, therefore very large sizes. It has the particularity of being able to display images with Ultra HD 8K definition with a maximum frequency of 100 Hz. It is equipped with a Mini-LED backlighting system associated with Precision Dimming Pro processing for effects of blooming particularly limited (halo around light objects on a dark background). In addition, this series benefits from the 7th generation Alpha9 AI 8K processor to optimize images, but also sound. This series is compatible with HDR Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats and supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio (bypass).

On the sound side, we benefit from a 9.1.2 channel system with AI Sound Pro audio processing for dialogue optimization. We can count on the presence of four HDMI 2.1 inputs as well as support for VRR and FreeSync Premium technologies up to 120 Hz.

Like all of the brand’s 2024 models, this series is powered by the webOS 24 system with a redesign of its graphical interface presenting several tiles for quick access to entertainment functions and controlling connected objects in the home. The tiles rest on a central foot which allows them to be installed on a narrow piece of furniture.

For the moment, LG has not yet communicated on the prices of the different diagonals since the models will be available this summer.

The QNED91 series, also with a Mini-LED panel

The LG QNED91 series of televisions is available in 65, 75 and 86 inches with an LCD panel benefiting from a Mini-LED backlighting system for increased precision and lighting effects. blooming boundaries. It is equipped with the new chipset Alpha8 AI 4K found on the OLED B4 series, for example. Capable of displaying an image with Ultra HD definition, it can support signals up to 120 Hz. Like the QNED99 series, it uses QNED Color Pro technology to optimize color rendering from its Quantum Dots panel.

In addition, it supports the same HDR formats as the QNED99 series including Dolby Vision and also offers four HDMI 2.1 inputs, all compatible with the latest optimization technologies for video games. We can also count on compatibility with the Dolby Vision Gaming 4K 120 Hz format and of course the webOS 24 system in operation. Remember that the system offers Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant and can also interface with connected objects, via Matter or Google Assistant, if you have a connected speaker nearby for the latter.

For audio, there are multiple speakers delivering a total power of 40 watts and the TVs support WOW Syngery technology for perfect synchronization with soundbars, using the TV’s speakers for a more immersive audio experience . Finally, note that the foot is central with a particularly thin slab that can also be hung on the wall, if necessary.

The 65-inch diagonal LG 65QNED91 TV is available for a price of 1999 euros. Count on a price of 2,999 euros for the 75-inch 75QNED91 and 3,999 euros for the 86-inch 86QNED91.

The QNED85 series, the heart of LG’s LCD range

The new LG QNED85 television series uses, this time, an LCD panel with Quantum Dots associated with an edge LED backlighting system, that is to say on the contours of the screen. Capable of displaying an image with Ultra HD 4K definition, it supports signals up to 120 Hz and benefits from Local Dimming processing to minimize the effects of blooming and offer contrasts as deep as possible. It is available in 50, 55, 65, 75 and 86 inches. It does not support the HDR Dolby Vision format, but Dolby Atmos is accepted as well as DTS:X (bypass). Upscaling is provided by the Alpha8 AI 4K chipset, as with the QNED91 series, and AI Picture Pro image processing.

For sound, we can count on the AI Sound Pro function delivering 40 watts of power from 9.1.2 channels compatible with WOW Synergy. There are four HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting, like previous models, optimization technologies for video games, including VRR and FreeSync Premium.

On the design side, the televisions measure barely 3 cm thick with a double foot system and can be installed in four positions, more or less apart and more or less high to install them on a narrow piece of furniture or place a sound bar in front, without disturbing the image. As on the brand’s other 2024 TVs, the webOS 24 system is on board.

For prices, LG announces the availability of the 50-inch 50QNED85 model at 999 euros. Count on a recommended price of 1199 euros for the 55-inch 55QNED85, 1499 euros for the 65-inch 65QNED85, 2299 euros for the 75-inch 75QNED85, 2999 euros for the 86-inch 86QNED85 and 5,999 euros.

Note that LG also offers a television under the reference QNED89. In fact, it is a model that offers exactly the same technologies as the QNED85, but only available in 98 inches and also benefiting from a panel with a Direct LED backlighting system, i.e. -say on the entire surface of the screen. It is installed on two feet apart with only one possible height. This specific model will be available in June for a price of 5,999 euros.

QNED80 series, the entry-level LCD at 50 Hz

Finally, the LG QNED80 series replaces last year’s QNED75 series. It uses an LCD panel with an edge LED backlighting system and a Quantum Dots panel for colors. It is available in 43, 50, 55, 65, 75 and 86 inches and is capable of displaying an Ultra HD image with a frequency of 60 Hz maximum. It is powered by the new 7th generation Alpha5 AI 4K chipset and supports the HDR10 format, but not Dolby Vision.

There are four HDMI 2.0 inputs on these models with the webOS 24 system, like the brand’s other TVs. The integrated speakers deliver a power of 20 watts. The panel is held by two feet which can be positioned in the center or spread apart to install a sound bar in front.

This QNED80 series will be available from this summer and, at the time of writing, LG has not yet communicated on the prices of the different sizes.
