Here are the car brands that have had the most recalls in 2023

Recall campaigns are common in the automobile industry, but some manufacturers use them more frequently than others. The Car-Recalls.eu site, which lists recall campaigns, has listed the manufacturers who carried out the most in 2023 in Europe, from the 283 campaigns reported on the European Safety Gate system platform.

Mercedes remains the brand with the most recalls

Among the 20 brands listed, it is Mercedes, already first in 2022, which carried out the most recalls in Europe in 2023. 38 were identified and concern 20 different models. Please note, however, that the number of recall campaigns is not an indicator of the reliability of the models. Jaguar is also the brand that has carried out the fewest, with only 5 recalls on 2 different models, while the English manufacturer is often listed among the bottom in reliability rankings. Jaguar, however, has a much smaller range than Mercedes and has not launched any brand new models recently, which necessarily limits the risk of having to carry out a recall.

The brands of the Stellantis group experienced numerous recalls in 2023, in particular because of their jointly developed utility vehicles, and it is Peugeot which takes second place in the ranking, with 27 campaigns concerning a total of 13 different models. BMW completes the podium with 21 recalls out of a total of 20 models. Like Mercedes, BMW has a very wide range and many recent launches, which increases the risk of having to carry out a recall.
