Eye contour: the list of active ingredients to favor for each problem

  • For dehydration lines : these dryness lines can appear on young skin, as well as on mature skin. To prevent them from turning into deep wrinkles, it is important to hydrate the skin around the eyes as much as possible with an eye contour treatment. This will also prevent makeup from settling into fine lines during the day. The most effective active ingredients according to the expert: ceramides and hyaluronic acid.
  • For deep wrinkles: crow’s feet and under-eye wrinkles are among the most difficult to fade. To reduce their appearance, the chemist advises using retinoids and peptides. “Retinoids boost cell renewal, improve skin texture and elasticity.” If you have very sensitive skin, you can use a retinol derivative, retinyl palmitate.

  • For loved ones in sight : Bags under the eyes can be caused by an accumulation of water and lymph, but also by a shift in the infraorbital fat under the eye. Sagging skin can also accentuate this effect. To fade them, the expert recommends opting for an eye contour treatment containing resveratrol and peptides.
  • For milium grains : these little white balls are small clusters of portal cells, trapped under the skin, which form a micro-cyst. To prevent them from disappearing, it is therefore recommended to use eye contour treatments containing lightly exfoliating active ingredients, such as vitamin A.

  • For lack of elasticity : retinoids are the most effective molecules for improving skin elasticity. If you are not used to using this type of active ingredient, it is important to gradually integrate them into your beauty routine. “1 evening in 3, 1 evening in 2 then every 2 evenings” advises the expert. The ideal? Then apply a moisturizing eye contour treatment.
  • For dark circles : use decongestant treatments (often equipped with a roll-on tip) which allow you to perform a light draining massage. Focus on active ingredients that boost blood microcirculation, such as caffeine, but also niacinamide. A fairly versatile active ingredient, which helps fight against cellular aging, while maintaining good hydration and soothing irritation and inflammation.
