here is the amount of the minimum wage increase planned for January 2024

Following inflation, an automatic revaluation of the SMIC of 1.13% was applied. Here’s what that gives in euros.

This Friday, December 15, inflation figures were published by INSEE. In view of these results, an automatic revaluation of 1.13% will be applied from January 1, 2024 on the interprofessional growth minimum wage, the SMIC. This therefore represents a small salary increase for the people concerned. Light, but everything is good to take!

This increase therefore has nothing to do with a government measure. It is due to an automatic revaluation mechanism as of January 1, 2024, with respect to inflation. In November 2023, over one year, prices increased by an average of 3.5%. The government therefore looks at the increase in prices to calculate this revaluation of the SMIC, for the 20% of households who receive the least income. But, concretelyhow much more money will this revaluation bring?

The increase in the minimum wage will be made official by the Ministry of Labor

Since May 1, 2023, the hourly rate was 11.52 euros per hour (gross). From January 1, the minimum wage will be 11.65 euros per hour, thanks to this new increase linked to the revaluation. Thus, an employee who works full-time will receive 1,766.92 euros from January 1, compared to 1,747.20 euros since May 1st.

The increase will thus be 19.72 euros per month. According to the government simulator, this will be equivalent to a total net sum of 1,377 euros. In one year, the minimum wage went from 1,709.17 euros to 1,766.92 euros. A total increase of 57.75 euros has been observed since January 1, 2023. If, on a minus basis, the consumer price index increases by more than 2%, the minimum wage may also increase. This was the case for the revaluation from 1 2023. This is what we can tell you about this new increase in the minimum wage.
