The state will invest “one billion euros per year” additional for vocational high schools, announced Thursday, during a trip to Charente-Maritime, Emmanuel Macron, making the reform of these establishments “a national cause”.
We are going to put a billion euros a year more on the professional high school (…). We must go towards 100% professional integration, declared the head of state on Thursday.
Determined to regain control and turn the page on the pension crisis with subjects close to the concerns of the French, the President of the Republic has announced a progressive internship allowance according to the level of high school.
The latter will be paid 50 euros per week in second, 75 euros in first and 100 euros in terminal, he detailed. For the final year, which requires more flexibility, the duration of the internships will be increased by 50%.
Reinforce the attractiveness of professional sectors
The Head of State announced the establishment of a business office in each vocational high school to guarantee better support for students, and the arrival in these establishments of associate professors from the business world.
The reform of the vocational school was one of Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promises in 2022.
The objective is to strengthen the appeal of these sectors, by giving access to more qualifying training, to improve the professional integration of young people and to fight against dropping out of school.
A third of high school students, or approximately 621,000 students, are educated in vocational high school, an often fragile, young and heterogeneous public, notes a presidential adviser.
