here is the new electric car from Chevrolet

Unveiled for the first time in 2022, the new Chevrolet Equinox gives us some news. This new electric car should have a range exceeding 500 kilometers for a price of under $35,000. Enough to give the Tesla Model Y a cold sweat, but not only that since it should arrive in Europe.

Until a few years ago, General Motors was not really ahead in the electrification of its brands. But while the public authorities are doing everything to develop this energy, in Europe and the rest of the world, the group is starting to get serious about it.

A very low price

We think, for example, of GMC with its Hummer EV or even Cadillac, which unveiled its Lyriq and other Celestiqs. The firm should soon arrive in Europe thanks to these very promising models, just like the rest of the American group. For the record, the latter has been absent from the Old Continent since 2021, the date of the acquisition of Opel by PSA, which later became Stellantis. But that’s not all, because Chevrolet should also come back to us.

Of course, this will be done with an electric car, which we already know. This is in fact the Equinox EV, which was revealed for the first time in October 2022. And now the latter is giving us news, more than a year after its revelation. On his site, the manufacturer is already revealing its price to us, with a range which will therefore begin from $34,995which is equivalent to 32,701 euros according to the current exchange rate.

A very low price, which should however be slightly revised upwards if the car arrives with us, due to the different taxation in France. We also do not know whether it will eventually be eligible for the ecological bonus, while the latter could still evolve over time, or even disappear altogether, as will be the case for example in Germany.

As a reminder, American customers will be able to benefit from assistance of $7,500, within the framework of the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) put in place by the American government. The most expensive version of the Chevrolet Equiox will be displayed from 46,765 dollars, or only 43,699 euros. Which should give its rivals, particularly the Tesla Model Y, a cold sweat.

Generous autonomy

And for good reason, the best-seller from Elon Musk’s brand currently starts at $43,000 in its standard propulsion version, or approximately 40,146 euros. And this within the framework of a discount offered by Tesla, which will only last until March 1st. Then he’ll take about $1,000. In Europe, the SUV will hunt in particular on the lands of the Renault Mégane E-Tech.

The latter is displayed from 34,000 euros, ecological bonus of 4,000 euros not deducted. But where the Equinox is very strong, it is with its autonomy, announced by Electrek at 319 miles, which corresponds to 513 kilometers in its two-wheel drive version. A figure which is also understood according to the American EPA cycle, renowned for being even more severe than our European WLTP. That’s around 550 km of autonomy for us.

However, some information is still missing, such as battery capacity. We know that the latter should be between 50 and 200 kWh and that this is Ultium technology developed in partnership with LG Chem. It is already rumored that it will be possible to recover approximately 110 kilometers in 10 minutes on a direct current terminal, although the charging power has not been announced. It also remains to be seen whether the SUV will have an 800-volt architecture or not, while Super Cruise autonomous driving could be there.

In terms of performance, the entry-level version is expected to be powered by a single engine of 210 horsepower and 328 Nm of torque. A version with all-wheel drive would also be on the program, with no less than 290 horsepower and a torque of 469 Nm.
