However, for the first part broadcast this Tuesday, October 24, 2023, viewers had the unpleasant surprise of seeing the film in fast motion, we explain why!
We know that autumn is well established and that it’s time for hot chocolates and cozy blankets when TF1 decides to rebroadcast the cult saga which continues to make young and old alike dream, Harry Potter ! An opportunity for fans of the universe created by JK Rowling to find their favorite characters and for those who don’t know to immerse themselves in the magical world of Hogwarts! This Tuesday, October 24, 2023, TF1 broadcast the first part Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to the delight of viewers who were impatiently awaiting this meeting!
Unfortunately everything did not go as planned! Indeed, the channel made the decision to broadcast Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in fast motion, a situation which did not escape all the fans present in front of their television. In a few minutes, they were able to notice that the voices were, among other things, higher pitched than usual or that the movements were too fast. A choice strongly criticized on the web that they did not hesitate to challenge the channel on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

Why was the film shown in fast motion?
Numerous comments appeared on the web, including some who did not hesitate to compare the two versions to prove the difference with the initial version. So did they really broadcast the program in fast-forward? The answer is yes ! But why did you make this choice? Is this to reduce the length of the film?
In fact it’s quite simple, the broadcast standard on TF1 is PAL, this means that the channel broadcasts 25 images per second or 50 frames per second. A standard different from that of cinema which in its case broadcasts in 24 images per second. This therefore causes the film to speed up by around 4% compared to normal! A situation which had already been noticed during the broadcast of Titanicin 2020. It remains to be seen whether the other sections will receive the same treatment?
