Met on the occasion of the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, Florence Coste, the interpreter of Laetitia, confided in the microphone of Allociné on what awaits her character during the next episodes of “Here everything begins” .
Allociné: you’ve been in Here it all begins for more than a year. How do you view the evolution of Laetitia?
Florence Coste: I think he’s a character who has evolved a lot since the beginning. It was quite exciting to accompany him in there. We start with a woman who lied a lot, who did a lot of bullshit, who had a relationship with her daughter full of love but not at all peaceful. And she has matured I think. Even if it keeps its character and its fantasy that make it so charming, I don’t want anyone to touch it.
She found an anchor point whereas before she was constantly moving. She also found a family with Salomé (Aurélie Pons). She is building something. Professionally, she was promoted. It is a meteoric progression. And even in her relationship to love she has evolved. Before it was very blue flower and in the imagination. Well, it ended badly with Guillaume, but she managed to create a real relationship. She is really on the way to calming down while keeping her madness.
Were you surprised that the authors put an end to the romance of Guillaume (Bruno Putzulu) and Laetitia?
Guillaume clearly twisted and behaved totally unacceptable. Decisions were therefore made accordingly. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was an important relationship that marked a step in Laetitia’s journey. I think it also prepares for the fact that she needs to be alone for a bit. It’s also cool to think that it’s not all about boys all the time. I’m sure next time will be good. I wish him anyway. To have her real beautiful love story is her dream in fact so I hope she will achieve it.
Is a love story possible with Tony (Kevin Dias)?
Tony, it’s a bit complicated because she has a lot of affection for him. He reminds her of a carefree time but I don’t think she’s ready to have a relationship with him.
Would you have liked the authors to explore Laetitia’s youth a little more?
We are going to approach the paternity of Kelly (Axelle Dodier), so we will inevitably come back to that because it will become an essential subject. Despite Laetitia’s reluctance, which brings us back to something painful, we’re going to have to go. This nice balance will therefore be set in motion.
Can we expect this to be the next big storyline in the series?
For us anyway, yes. It’s a plot that will stretch over time. It’s not going to be a two-week ark. I can’t say everything but a lot is going to happen.
Will Tony play a role in this story?
Tony, that’s the trigger. The arrival of Tony in their life will really raise the question of Kelly’s paternity. And the fact of having a male figure who enters his life like that is a revelation for Kelly. She’s going to need to know.
When can we expect to see this plot on the air?
It is imminent.
Guillaume recently left the institute. Do you know if Bruno Putzulu is definitely leaving the series?
I think it’s a departure for some time. Many of our comrades come back for arches. So it is not at all excluded that he will return. I hope.
How did you react to his departure?
It’s always a bit moving when you’ve shared so many scenes with someone. Here everything begins is a big family. Afterwards, I know that he is someone who has lots of projects, who also likes the theater a lot. He will have more time to devote to it. There are beautiful things they expect too.
Laetitia is a character who has evolved a lot within the institute. Is a promotion possible?
I want Laetitia to be the director of the institute. I want her to take Teyssier’s place. And I said it to Benjamin Baroche who does not agree at all (laughs). But I believe it!
A position of assistant principal has become available. Could Laetitia take Guillaume’s place?
I would very much like. In any case, she takes on more and more responsibilities. Afterwards, Laetitia did not officially have a promotion. But I often submit the idea to the authors.
Are there any actors from Here it all begins with whom you would like to work?
I would very much like to shoot with Julien Alluguette who plays Zacharie. We became very good friends in life. We both play at the theater so we spend time together in Avignon. On the set, on the other hand, we only cross paths. We are very happy to see each other outside but we would like to see each other even more on the set. Fingers crossed.
Can we hope to see more of a family scene with Salomé?
It’ll come back with the plot about Kelly’s paternity. Salome returns. It’s true that for a long time, we were less with Salomé and that saddened us because we like to shoot as a family. But here it comes back.
Can we hope to see you singing again in the series?
I would love. I loved singing for Valentine’s Day. I found it really neat and I think it’s quite possible.
Do you have desires or subjects that you would like to defend through your character?
The question of forgiveness is an interesting theme I find. We started it with Laetitia’s parents but it remained tense. With his father, it is not repairable but with his mother, it evolves. We realize that when we get there, it’s very liberating even if it’s something difficult to grant when people have really hurt us. This is the last thing that Laetitia lacks to be completely appeased. You’ll have to go through that at some point.
Do you have other projects apart from the series?
I play a lot in the theater. I recently acted in an adaptation of Titanic in which I play Rose. As soon as I’m not on the set of Here it all begins, I’m at the theatre. I love theater and I don’t want to choose between the two.
I’m also on a new play in Paris in a comedy called Les Muses. These are four works of art in a museum that wake up and talk to each other. I play Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe. It’s very interesting and very funny. Beyond being funny, it also talks about self-image, femininity and several very current topics. It starts on September 22 and my premiere will be October 1.
