Monday January 29 in Here it all begins…

Will Ethan be disloyal to Bérénice?

As Teyssier is away for a week to lead a masterclass in Spain, Constance wants to ensure that Bérénice really wants to be the brigade leader for the Pastry Days. The girl says that is the case, adding that she also wants to prove to Cardone that she is wrong about him. Bérénice is also reassured to know that Carla will be her second and therefore, will be there to support her in difficult times.

At the Institute, Constance comes across Annabelle and Clotilde in the park talking about Bérénice. Cardone actually asked his colleague to come to the Atelier during the day in order to get a second opinion on Bérénice. Cardone reminds us that Bérénice will have to present her creations to the chefs of the Institute on Thursday and that the Pastry Days are fast approaching, so she had better get through it. Clotilde tries to reassure Constance by emphasizing that she has nothing to gain by pushing Bérénice.

Meanwhile, Carla joins Bérénice at the Workshop to tell her that she agrees to be her second. She also takes the opportunity to coach her and give her advice so that she immediately commands respect within her brigade. Carla promises to help him put an end to the slightest disruptive element.

In front of her brigade, Bérénice presents her ideas. Tom and Ethan allow themselves to question them. Carla signals him not to let it happen. Bérénice therefore brushes aside their proposals in order to stick to her position. At the same time, Cardone arrives to remind them of the stakes of the Pastry Days.

Later, Cardone discusses Bérénice’s case with Zacharie in the park. Seeing that Tom is not far away, the chef takes the opportunity to speak out loud about her doubts towards Bérénice, whom she accuses of being in her place by virtue and not by talent. Cardone adds that she fears that Bérénice’s incompetence will have repercussions on the rest of the brigade even though she has invited Moreira, a very renowned Portuguese chef, who is in the process of recruiting for her new restaurant, to come and see them.

Having heard everything, Tom returns to the Workshop where he finds Ethan and Solal. He warns them in turn, declaring that he does not intend to appear in front of Chief Moreira. He is therefore ready to take his own initiatives even if Bérénice does not like it. Indeed, during the cooking session, Tom does not respect Bérénice’s choices. She notices him and discusses things with him without realizing that the chefs Cardone and Armand are observing him. Having seen it done, Clotilde points out that Bérénice seems to perfectly lead a brigade. This annoys Cardone who keeps observing the young girl, noticing her proximity to Carla.

At the end of the day, Annabelle reveals to Ethan that she brought in chef Moreira specifically for him so that she could get an opinion on his skills and possibly take him on as an internship. Ethan then understands why his mother had planned everything so that he was named brigade leader of the Pastry Days. Annabelle points out that it’s not too late yet. His strategy would be to break up Bérénice’s relationship with Carla in order to weaken her and give Ethan his job back…

Mehdi replaces Teyssier during his absence

In the studio, Mehdi lets chef Listrac taste her recipe for rice pudding with jasmine tea flavors. His feedback is very positive. Mehdi is reassured. As he leaves the premises, he meets chef Guinot. Reconciled with her partner about Louis, she also noticed that Mehdi seemed better in his sneakers. She then suggests that he replace Teyssier for his classes since the director is absent all week.

Claire and Olivia will therefore talk to Antoine about it. Anaïs also supports Mehdi’s candidacy, noting that he has been much more patient and attentive for some time. Antoine therefore accepts that he replaces Teyssier.

Later, Mehdi announces the good news to Hortense. He already has an idea for a lesson: to have the students work on brunch with delicacy as the main theme. Hortense is very proud of her husband.

Mehdi then presents his concept to the First Years for their first pastry class. They will have to create a recipe that will fit into the brunch he has already prepared. So, students must taste it to get an idea of the flavors and find what will fit in while avoiding it being stuffy or spoiled. The students seem very motivated by this concept.

Jasmine tries to set up Jim

In the locker room, Jasmine observes Jim changing through a mirror. At the same time, Maya and Leonard enter the locker room. Maya also sees Jim and can’t help but stare at his bare torso. If Leonard offers to fix her up, Maya retorts that it’s not a good idea because they never speak. For her part, Jasmine listens to their entire exchange.

The First Years then go to Leroy’s class which Jasmine is attending. The chef wants the students to work in pairs on a warm and comforting creation inspired by their memories of family meals. To add complexity, Leroy wants them to work with someone they don’t necessarily know well. He therefore leaves it to Jasmine, who knows the students and their affinities better, to form the pairs. She decides to put Jim and Maya together.

As the students begin to work, Jasmine goes to the Commissary. On the way, she meets Kelly, who asks her how things are going with Jim. Jasmine then reveals to her friend the discussion she had with him when they both found themselves locked in the cellar. Jim asked him about his feelings towards him, but Jasmine didn’t answer him. Yet, deep down, Jasmine knows she is attracted to him. So, to solve this problem, Jasmine makes Jim get closer to Maya, who has a crush on him.

At the end of the class, Jim and Maya present their plate to Leroy and Jasmine: fried egg on a bed of salted rice. Leroy notices that the students did not take the exercise seriously. Jim retorts that it is a recipe that he ate every Sunday with Thibault, but he is not surprised that his father does not know it since he was not with them at the time. As for Maya, she admits that she doesn’t really have warm memories of family meals because of her past in the home. Leroy then declared that the word “family” was to be taken in the broad sense.

He still tastes their dish. Since he’s not good, he intends to give them a 0. Jasmine intervenes, arguing that Jim and Maya simply didn’t understand the instructions and that they deserve a second chance. Leroy grants it to them. They will have to present him with a new recipe before Wednesday. Will Jasmine regret it?
