Last September, OpenAI launched a feature that allows you to converse directly out loud with ChatGPT. Like Google Assistant, it is possible to ask the AI a question by speaking rather than writing so that it answers you. Practical when you don’t feel like writing, but what about when you don’t feel like reading?
OpenAI has just resolved this problem with a new update of its tool on the smartphone and web versions. This brings a new feature called Read Aloud which, as its name suggests, allows you to ask ChatGPT to read your answers aloud, even if they have been asked in writing.

How to have your answers read aloud to ChatGPT
The handling couldn’t be simpler. Here’s how you can avoid reading the long sections of ChatGPT:
- Open ChatGPT on your smartphone
- Ask the AI any question you want
- Press and hold on the answer
- In the menu that opens, select Read Aloud
ChatGPT will then begin to read its response using the many synthetic voices it has. The feature is available in 37 languages, including French. This will prove particularly useful when the AI’s responses are long or when you want to perform another task at the same time.

Note that although we were able to test the option on Android, it was not as easy on the web version. In fact, it has not yet appeared on our devices. When asked, ChatGPT responded that it does not yet have built-in text-to-speech functionality. We will therefore obviously have to wait a little longer in France.
