The Tiny11 project interested you, but you didn’t necessarily want to take the risk of downloading the modification? Good news, you can now create your own lite version of Windows 11.

NTDEV, which is behind the project, released a video on YouTube to detail all the steps that allowed the creation of Tiny11. Thanks to it, you can make the changes yourself.

Modified versions of OS, practical, but not without risks

Released at the beginning of February, Tiny11 is a modified version of Windows 11 so that the operating system can be installed on computers that are less powerful than recommended by Microsoft. By removing some elements and what is considered bloatware, NTDEV, which is behind the project, managed to reduce the storage space required for the installation of Windows to 8 GB and to make the OS work on systems with 2 GB of RAM, instead of the 4 GB requested by Microsoft. Based on his work, some have even gone further, managing to run Windows 11 (with difficulty) with only 196 MB of RAM.

If Tiny11 is very practical for owners of aging PCs who would still like to benefit from the improvements of Windows 11, it is quite risky to download a modified OS. We’re not immune to malicious modifications that contain malware or just don’t work properly. It is therefore strongly advised not to install this kind of software. But for Tiny11, there is another solution: do it yourself.

A tutorial to create your own Tiny11

NTDEV has chosen to be transparent and recently released a video of just over 15 minutes on YouTube detailing all the steps that went into creating Tiny11 beta 2. Rather than downloading the modification directly, you can now do it yourself, which reduces the risk of malware and spyware.

The operation still requires the installation of other software and will therefore be reserved for the most advanced users, who will be able to determine the relevance of each of the steps. Also note that to be able to use your light version of Windows 11, it is still necessary to have a valid product key.
