Microsoft is about to integrate a virtual private network (vpn) partly free on your browser edge. The company has provided more information on how to try out this expected new feature called “Microsoft Edge Secure Network Service”.

Microsoft Edge VPN was announced just a few days ago. The process is powered by Cloudflare, in partnership with Microsoft. The company intends to encrypt the personal data of its users and offer them increased confidentiality.

Microsoft says the feature is still under development. At this time, it’s not fully ready for a mainstream rollout. However, the firm indicates that a trial version will soon be available on one of the Microsoft Edge Insider channels. There are no less than seven Insider versions for the browser: three for Windows (Beta Channel, Dev and Canary), three for Android (Beta Channel, Dev and Canary) and a single version for iOS (Beta).

After downloading one of these versions for free (available on the Microsoft Edge Insider download page), everyone can try the new version of Microsoft Edge. Opening the hamburger menu located at the top right, a “Secure Network” tab will appear between “Read Aloud” and “Additional Tools”.

All you have to do is click on it to test the VPN. Note that it is imperative to log in to a Microsoft account to try the service integrated into Edge. This new feature will close each time the user exits the application.

Microsoft hasn’t advanced a rollout date on its Insider channels, but after detailing how to do it, it looks like it’s coming soon.
