Hidetaka Miyazaki gives some details about Armored Core VI

Surprise reveal of the latest Game Awards 2022, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon therefore reminds players necessarily assimilating FromSoftware to Dark Souls, Bloodborne or Elden Ring, that there was a time when the studio was also strongly interested in giant mechas. Rather difficult to access, the mechanical saga had found a kind of epiphany with its fifth episode, bringing a much more strategic turn. Until then rather mysterious and only revealed via a teaserthis sixth opus takes shape a little more through an interview given by Hidetaka Miyazaki and Masaru Yamamura to IGN.

Following in the footsteps of his predecessors, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon offers a third-person view with gigantic robots as avatars, fully customizable. Sekiro’s lead designer, Yamamura, reminds him that another classic part of the series also remains in place, namely the epic boss battles: “Boss fights are the highlight of the game.” He pursues : “The very essence of these fights, in which the player must read the enemy’s movements and then use them against him, is of course present, a usual approach at FromSoftware. In this game, not only the enemy, but also your own machine compete in aggression and violence. We want players to experience dynamic and intense boss fights that only mechs can provide. Without forgetting one of the unique aspects of Armored Core, the fact of knowing how to assemble the right pieces to face the most powerful enemies.”

And if Yamamura does mention a multiplayer pan, he limits it to versus for the moment, indicating that the team is focusing on the single player campaign and that more information will be communicated later. Construction level, the progression will be done via missions (without open world) in an approach which is intended to be intense, requiring a real involvement of the player in the way of managing his robot. Miyazaki pointing out that the legacy ofElden Ring in terms of accessibility has no impact on “game design and concept during Armored Core VI development“. Finally, Yamamura indicates that the title will not make the script bridge with the old opuses, allowing players to start with this episode without any problem.
