High-flyer Goiginger: – “This night was a great night of partying”

Director Adrian Goiginger won awards in four categories at the Austrian Film Awards in Vienna with his film “Rickerl”.

“I don’t want to name any names, but a few of my colleagues have already partied all night long,” jokes director Adrian Goiginger. They’re right, because Goiginger and his “Rickerl” film team really cleaned up at the Austrian Film Awards on Wednesday evening in Vienna. They took home four awards. Among others, Voodoo Jürgens was awarded in the category best male lead role, as a struggling pub musician, and Goiginger himself was awarded for best direction and screenplay.Success story with an obstacle at the beginningAlthough the award winners only found out about their good fortune on the spot, Goiginger took the shower of awards in his stride: “I’m not most happy for myself, but for my team. Films are always a team effort. Without the great people around me, such successes would not be possible.”Goiginger knows what he’s talking about, as he had to contend with hurdles in this regard at the beginning of the production of “Rickerl”. “When I heard Voodoo’s songs, I thought I had to make a film with him.” But establishing personal contact with the singer was anything but easy. “I didn’t have his number. So I contacted his management very formally and hoped that he would be interested,” Goiginger smiles today. A real friendship has now developed between the two men. The Salzburg director is also relying on proven colleagues for his next film project: shooting for “Four minus three” will start in the autumn. The film is based on the autobiographical novel by Barbara Pachl-Eberhart, in which she describes the tragic loss of her family.
