On November 5, 2022, Joe Dassin could have celebrated his 84th birthday. The opportunity to come back to the last words he said before taking his last breath.

More than forty-two years after his death, Joe Dassin remains one of the icons of French song. Whether with America, Les Dalton or Indian Summer, the artist has made many generations sing at the top of their voices. Dead at 41, Joe Dassin had a good life, but far too short. On November 5, 2022, he would have turned 84. Last July, France 3 devoted a documentary to his life, entitled Joe Dassin: the novel of his life. The opportunity to discover his lifestyle at a mile an hour, linked to his flamboyant career. Behind the scenes, Joe Dassin was also a man eaten away by his anxieties and his traumas. If he spoke little about it, the artist had not really recovered from the death of her first child, born prematurely on September 12, 1973. Little Joshua was the son he had with Maryse Massiera, who died five days after coming into the world.

A few years after this tragic event, the couple married for ten years decided to separate, not managing to get through this ordeal. Joe Dassin then had two boys with Christine Delvaux, and it was with them that he was when he too breathed his last on August 20, 1980 in French Polynesia. Seated at the restaurant with Jonathan, Julien, but also his mother and his friend Carlos, the singer was taken a sharp pain in the chest.

(…) I invited him to have an aperitif at the bar with his mother and his friends who were around him. We talked for about ten minutes and after that, he was very hungry.
