Mallaury Nataf: his tragic confidences about life on the street

“I fell back onto the street, but not by choice, I guarantee you! A Hindu stole my wallet in March 2020, at the very beginning of the pandemic, with my bank card inside, my identity card and almost €400 in cash. At that time, I was renting a room in a hotel for €40 per day. The day after the theft, my bank was closed due to confinement… Impossible to report my situation! And, without money, I could no longer pay for my hotel. So I found myself outside again, despite all my efforts. In full confinement.” she explained. A new ordeal for the one who, on several occasions, lost custody of her three children.

“I thought I would be able to fend for myself. And when you find yourself outside, you no longer have any friends.” she then reveals. “The only problems I endured during the ten years I spent on the streets” she continues, claiming to have slept in the street “without cardboard, without mattresses, without tents”. And to conclude with sadness: “We go to the municipal shower, to the laundromat to wash our things. Passers-by gave me 20 to 30 € per day, without me asking for anything. Every month, I changed my clothes completely, which I went to buy for €15 to €20. I always wanted to be impeccable, Italian style.”
