A week ago, the Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter (59) set out for the Arctic, together with the virtual Leya Love. Hofstetter wants to use the avatar to draw attention to climate change.
To do this, he projected a wide variety of images onto icebergs. The central motif was the avatar Leya Love. Hofstetter and his team worked every evening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and then again in the morning between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. «Overall, we were very lucky with the weather. Most of the nights were freezing cold, but very clear, ”Hofstetter tells the SonntagsBlick magazine.
“Great awe and humility”
“All in all, the expedition is a huge success,” said the Swiss artist. Working with Leya Love was also enriching. Image and video recordings of the project show a breathtaking scenery and great results. Shortly before taking off from the North Pole, Gerry Hofstetter draws a conclusion: «« After the experience, I feel great awe and humility for this place, which we humans should be better protected. »
