Thursday, March 17, 2022 will probably remain etched in the memory of all Harry Potter fans. Sony then regaled us with a twenty-minute conference entirely dedicated to Hogwarts Legacy: The Hogwarts Legacy. The opportunity to enjoy a substantial gameplay trailer by teaching us much more about the scenario, the fights, the exploration of the castle or even the relations with the students. here is a hundred images in HD taken from this trailer to remember the emblematic passages.

The most beautiful places of Hogwarts
Let’s start with the most important: Hogwarts castle. Built on the edge of the Black Lake, the world’s most famous school of wizardry boasts an invisibility charm so Muggles will never find it. In Hogwarts Legacy, we can then explore this iconic building from the Harry Potter saga from top to bottom. Better still, it will not only be possible to visit emblematic rooms of the castle seen in the films, such as the Room of Requirement, the Great Hall or the inner courtyard, but also places only described in the books of JK Rowling.
This is how, for the very first time, we will be able to admire the hogwarts kitchens but especially the Hufflepuff common room ! Small precision for the kitchens: the latter have already been adapted in mobile games like Hogwarts Mystery for example and Magic Awakened, but for the common room of Hufflepuff, this room has never been observed.
Good news : the weather will be dynamic in the game just like the seasons. Thus, you will be able to observe Hogwarts day and night but also in winter, summer, spring and autumn under different weather conditions. We imagine being able to fight werewolves on Full Moon nights, for example.
The classroom are also very important in the design of Hogwarts. Thus, during the gameplay trailer, we were able to observe the Spell class, the Defense against the Dark Arts class, but also the Botany class. We also saw the Potions class and the History of Magic class. Allusions to the “Quidditch” class were also heard in the trailer and we can clearly see our character learning to ride a broom. However, if broom races have been formalized via the site’s FAQ, we do not know if Harry Potter’s emblematic sport will be there.
Of course, when creating your character at the start of the game, you will also have to choose the House that suits you between Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
Colorful characters
With slightly “cartoon” faces mixed with realistic textures, the characters of Hogwarts Legacy seem very endearing and charismatic. Between the man in the top hat who seems to be the villain of the story, the somewhat eccentric spell teacher or the many students who will become our friends in the game, we’ve got it! Concerning Professor Fig, it is he who will accompany us at the start of the school year, on September 1, 1890, and who will investigate with us Ancient Magic and the Goblin Rebellion. He might be a Care of Magical Creatures Professor.
From iconic classmates, we find the young Hufflepuff who has a passion for plants and adorable animals, the boy who seems to be a friendly rival in Slytherin, the Gryffindor who welcomes us during the first class and leaves us behind the front door, but also a mysterious Slytherin who has an item confiscated by what appears to be her father. In short, many questions currently surround these NPCs, but it is indicated in the trailer that we can befriend them in order to learn more and that they accompany us during exploration and combat.
Special mention to these two well-known ghosts from the Harry Potter universe : Nick-Nearly-Headless and Peeves! If the first is obviously a must in films, the second is only present in the books and is known to wreak havoc at Hogwarts.
Of course, in a single-player RPG like Hogwarts Legacy, there will also be plenty of enemies. We have identified several of them:
- The Goblinswhose leader is called Rannrok,
- Victor Rookwood who is a Black Magus controlling goblins and other creatures,
- The evil wizards with bone masks that seem to be on Victor’s payroll but also harm the Fantastic Beasts that we will have to save,
- From monsters various and varied like Inferis, living armor, dragons etc..
Moreover, during the combat phases, we can see that different spells are used and that the progression system will improve them as you go along as well as unlock new ones. Incendio, Flipendo or Accio, our character even allows himself to formulate one of the unforgivable spells: Avada Kedavra !
Loot, resources and crafting!
By defeating enemies or exploring Hogwarts and its surroundings, you will pick up a lot ofingredients which will then be useful for making potions and crafting equipment. If the plantation system with a waiting time before recovering resources has scared more than one player, rest assured: there will be no microtransactions in the game.
Moreover, it is in this Room of Requirement that you can cultivate all types of plants such as Mandrake but also access a magical greenhouse allowing you to create your own world. This is the function housing which allows you to pose a house and various other furniture and decorations. Just like Norbert Dragonneau’s magic suitcase, it is here that you can welcome the fantastic animals that you have saved in order to take care of them.
Fantastic Beasts and Other Creatures
Mooncalf, Grapcorne, Niffler or even Thestral, tons of fantastic animals are just waiting for you to be cuddled.
Beware, however, of creatures corrupted by the Black Mage and other naturally aggressive monsters! Let’s not forget either the majestic Hippogriff that it will be possible to ride, like the broom, to explore Hogwarts and its surroundings.
Around Hogwarts
We know that the open world of Hogwarts Legacy is huge. In addition to being able to explore the castle room by room, you can also visit emblematic places such as the village of Hogsmeade or even the Forbidden Forest. But it doesn’t stop there since the developers had to imagine everything around Hogwarts that no one had ever seen before.
In the village of Hogsmeade, many shops are available to buy everything a good wizard needs: clothes, ingredients, potions or even wands at Ollivander.
By exploring a little, you will sometimes come across traveling merchants or even secret dungeons.
