While we still don’t know the exact release date for the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy, it looks like the pre-order bonuses have leaked on Reddit. It was by digging into the source code of the official website that a network user was able to find elements that he identified as being digital pre-order bonuses linked to different editions of the game (standard, deluxe and collector).
There is no doubt that Hogwarts Legacy will indeed benefit from deluxe and/or collector versions to satisfy the potterheads but these have not yet been detailed. All the information that follows is obviously to be taken with a grain of salt: nothing is confirmed and the few lines of code present on the official site do not mean that Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have changed their minds in the meantime.
Hogwarts Legacy: Pre-order and purchase bonuses revealed?
Without further ado, here is what the Reddit post from /opalelement : “I found a list of extras for the game’s editions by looking at the source on the hogwartslegacy.com homepage.”. The list in question is as follows (we’ve added the French translation and our few item speculations):
- Thestral Mount
- Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack
- Dark Arts Battle Arena (Forces of Evil Battle Pack)
- Dark Arts Garrison Hat (A Dark Arts hat)
- 72 Hours Early Access to the Game
- Kelpie Robe (A Kelpy Wizard Robe, an aquatic animal-demon seen in the Fantastic Beasts 3 movie)
- Steel Case (A steel case, probably to store the game in physical edition)
- Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book
The Reddit user indicates that notions of “Digital only” and “Deluxe Digital only” are also present on the site, which obviously implies that certain objects will only be available with the purchase of the edition in question. It is difficult to know if these are bonuses offered only to people pre-ordering the game or to all buyers: the mere presence of access 72 hours in advance is more reminiscent of pre-order bonuses.
Really limited bonuses?
On the official Hogwarts Legacy website, it is stated in black and white thatno microtransactions would not be available in the game. That is to say, the player will not be able to purchase, with real money, time accelerators for potions or exclusive cosmetics. All items and ingredients will be obtained through play. This therefore means that the Extras presented earlier in this article and the Cosmetic Packs will only be intended for players who pre-order/purchase the game in one of the corresponding editions.
If we assume for example that the Thestral mount is an exclusive purchase of the Deluxe edition, then players who own a standard version will probably never get it (or else much later in the game). This is still obviously unclear but we will probably have answers in the weeks to come! The release of Hogwarts Legacy is fast approaching and the communication around the title is accelerating, we should have a release date trailer by September if all goes well!
