Traffic in the canton of Uri came to a standstill early on Sunday morning: an accident occurred on the open stretch of the A2 motorway. This happened at the Langlaui tunnel between Wassen and Amsteg in the north, as the Uri canton police said at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
Accordingly, a passenger car collided with a crash barrier and rolled over. One person was slightly injured.
The Gotthard tunnel was temporarily closed as a result. According to information from traffic services, the tunnel tube was not passable for around an hour in the north direction. The passage was completely free again shortly before 9 a.m.
At times ten kilometers of traffic jams
Due to the high volume of traffic caused by the holidays, there was another traffic jam on the north-south axis on Sunday. At times the motorcade was ten kilometers long.
The motorway entrances in Göschenen and Airolo are closed.
