Hong Kong police arrest six members of news site

Hong Kong police announced on Wednesday (December 29th) that they had arrested six people working or having worked for a news site for “Conspiracy to publish seditious material”.

TVB broadcaster reported that the six arrested worked for the news site. News stand. A Reuters reporter saw at least four police vans outside the website’s offices.

Searches

Police released a statement in which they said they had arrested three men and three women, aged 34 to 73, and that their homes were being searched.

News stand said one of those arrested was his deputy editor, Ronson Chan, who is also chairman of the Hong Kong Journalists Association.

The website of News stand released a video in which police could be seen arriving at Ronson Chan’s home and producing an arrest warrant.
