Honor confirms the upcoming arrival of Magic V, its first foldable smartphone

Honor may have become an independent brand over the past year, but there is no shortage of competitors and still bears the scars of its divorce from Huawei. The company is therefore trying to stand out with more ambitious devices. While Oppo has just presented its attractive Find N and that Huawei will unveil its P50 Pocket tomorrow, Thursday 23 December, the Chinese manufacturer also intends to launch into the folding smartphone market with the Magic V.

Honor once again used the Chinese social network Weibo to announce the news, without giving much details. He shared an image showing the folding hinge on his next device. It remains to be seen whether the design is inspired by a clamshell smartphone or a Samsung Galaxy Fold. The choice of the Latin number V obviously referring to the folding of the screen.

When Qualcomm officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, Honor immediately confirmed the upcoming launch of a phone equipped with the SoC. It’s a safe bet that the Magic V is concerned. The company had mentioned the release of a folding mobile later this year, but it seems that the semiconductor crisis has delayed its plans.
